Died of wounds 5th May 1917  
Age 27. 
Son of Mrs C. D. H. Goldie of Louisville Drumchapel, Glasgow, and the late Andrew Goldie. 

William was wounded sometime between 3.35am and 5am on the morning of 3rd May 1917 during the Battle of Arras. Sadly he died of his wounds on the 5th of May 1917.

For our yesterday, today and tomorrow we thank you.

On the bottom of William's headstone the family had the following words inscribed:

"GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS"
